ELIMINATION OF MOTHER/FATHER ON DOCUMENTS IN NEVADA

Whereas the Nevada Legislature heard Bill # AB287 in the 2021 Legislative session, and

 

Whereas the IAP was in opposition to this bill, which did pass our state legislature and became law in Nevada, and

 

Whereas Kimberly Ells, author and policy advisor for Family Watch International wrote an article about "Erasing Motherhood", and

 

Whereas she states the socialist feminist ideology articulated by Shulamith Firestone, in the 1970s said "It has become necessary to free humanity from the tyranny of its biology" and "eliminate the sex distinction itself (so that) genital differences between human beings would no longer matter culturally", and

 

Whereas Kimberly Ells wrote "If there are not two specific, perceivable sexes that can be definitively recognized by law, then it becomes difficult to define or defend mothers and fathers - along with their parental rights - in legal terms.  Therefore, the belonging of children to their parents is increasingly thrown into question and the family stands on trembling legal legs . . . ", and

 

Whereas by putting on the birth certificate "person who gave birth" and the "other person", this law insults mothers and fathers everywhere by eliminating their standing (legal and otherwise) and it denigrates their very important and time honored roles, and

 

Therefore be it resolved that the Independent American Party rejects the folly of the legislature in eliminating mother and father from Nevada laws and will work to re-establish in Nevada statue the time honored names of mother and father.
