The Tax and
Spending Control in Nevada (TASC) petition has proved to be one of the popular initiatives
in Nevada history, garnering 125,438 valid signatures according to Secretary of State Dean
Heller who believe it or not is a registered Republican.Yet Heller, who wants to go to Washington to represent Nevadas 2nd
Congressional District, wont put TASC on the ballot just yet because the AFL-CIOs
Danny Thompson has gotten into Hellers head, or is it his pocket.
After only five
years toiling in the private sector as a stockbroker, Heller decided to start living off
taxpayers in 1990 when he was elected to the Assembly.Hes been Secretary of State since 1994.
This is important, since TASC would limit how much
state and local government could take from citizens.A guy who has spent most of his adult life sucking up taxes rather than
paying them isnt going to be all that jazzed up about TASC.To hell with whether voters should have a say in
how big government can be, Heller knows from where his bread is buttered.
Heller wants the
Attorney Generals office to get involved because voters signed petitions with 2007
as the year on which to base spending controls, but 2005 was the date sent to the
secretary of state's office.
But, what really gives
Heller the Willies is that the AFL-CIO claims that the TASC petitions have a bunch of
phony signatures. Heller is supposedly a Republican, but youd never know it, and his
union buddy Danny Thompson controls some mighty big purse strings, so: "In the best
interests of the citizens of Nevada, I believe it's important that we take a further and
comprehensive review of TASC in order to ensure the petition is valid," Heller said.
What a crock! In the best interests of
the citizens of Nevada? Heller wants TASC killed to keep the booty flowing
into Carson City, and the contributions flowing into his bank account. It would be a travesty if Heller is able to
circumvent Nevada law for his own political benefit.
Lefty, democrat Chris
Giunchigliani gushed about Dean to the Las Vegas Sun insert, she thinks the state
would be well-served by Heller.If
Chris G. thinks Deans da bomb well, it doesnt
take a genius to connect these dots.
Heller even admits that
if he goes to Washington: Its far more important that the person be able to
work with other members of the delegation (in other words, Harry Reid) on YuccaMountain,
water, grazing fees. Solve problems for Nevada.
Yo
Dean, we gotta Nevada problem, government is growing faster than the state is, and youre
keeping the solution off of the ballot.Instead
of doing what Chris G., and Union Boss Danny Thompson want you to do, let the people have
their say, because if you don't I promise you they will come Election Day.
