The Independent American Party is the third largest political party in Nevada. It is perhaps the only political party in Nevada that believes in strict adherence to the principles of our Founding Fathers which are set forth in the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
The IAP was originally founded in 1967 by Daniel M. Hansen who possessed extraordinary vision and understanding of where America and the Twin Parties were headed. We lost ballot position in 1978 and petitioned to regain ballot access in 1992 under Dan’s leadership and have remained on the ballot since then.
The motive behind the creation of the IAP was to give voters a real choice instead of the “lesser of two evils.” It was also designed to bring forth a new political party that would put “Principle above Politics” and restore our government and our laws back to its freedom-loving, Judeo-Christian roots.
The IAP has enjoyed many well-fought campaigns and has run as many as 54 candidates in an election year including, for federal, state, and local offices. While many IAP candidates do win a large number of votes, the Party has elect several people to office since it was first organized.
Independent Americans who have been elected are: a County Commissioner in Tonopah, the Mayor of Mesquite, and Cel Ocha as Constable in Harry Reid's hometown of Searchlight. In the 2006 election, Jackie Berg was elected as Eureka County Clerk/Treasurer and re-elected in 2010. In 2010 Falkon Finlinson was elected as Nye County Public Administrator, John Lampros as White Pine County Commissioner, and Terrance Steadman as Baker General Improvement Board.
More and more Nevadans are growing sick and tired of the same recycled rhetoric and empty promises of both major parties, and are beginning to elect men and women that don't follow the political status quo. Voters want to support candidates that have the commitment and determination to restore integrity and honesty in our government. IAP candidates want to restore the vision of our founding fathers in our state and our nation for the future of our children and grandchildren.
We are a political party that believes in limited, constitutional government, and in preserving moral and traditional values in American society and culture.
We are the only party in Nevada that supports marriage only between a man and a woman and is also pro-life.
An Independent American vote is a vote for principle and for what is right, over what is "politically correct.”
“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” John Quincy Adams
